What Are The Symptoms

Disc Degeneration symptoms may vary depending on the intensity of the condition. Most symptoms may include back Pain, neck pain, or pain present in the arms or legs. While the vast majority of individuals won’t have any symptoms at all.

When symptoms are present or increasing, you may have pain after physical activity, bending, lifting, twisting or after sitting for long periods of time. However, not all degenerated discs cause pain.

Common symptoms reported are similar to sciatica, or pain that radiates from the low back into the buttocks and upper thighs, some individuals may experience tingling or numbness in their legs and feet. Your pain may be sharp, throbbing or burning and may extend down into one or both legs.

When pain occurs, it is often from weakened discs and other spinal structures becoming irritated and painful with movement.

Physical therapy is designed to help control symptoms, enabling the patient to begin moving and exercising safely and easily.

Treatment Options

Chiropractic

Chiropractic approach to healing involves the whole body. Pain relief can be obtained quickly and effectively, and drug-free.

We help our patients avoid surgery and risks associated with surgery including infections, bleeding, prolonged recovery, and risks of anesthesia.

We offer a safe and affordable alternative. We believe that by working to keep the spinal cord correctly aligned, we can maintain the health of the nerves and immune systems and your overall well-being.

Epidural Injection

We may prescribe steroid injections that treat inflammation and pain right at the source. This minimally invasive treatment involves an injection of corticosteroids into the area around your spinal cord and nerves in order to reduce inflammation.

The epidural space is located along the entire spinal canal superficial to the spinal fluid. Physician injects the medicine into the epidural space to relieve the inflammation of the nerves. This will reduce pain, numbness and tingling. X-ray guidance is used to ensure precise placement.

Holistic Treatments

There are many holistic treatments available for most painful conditions. Pain is often symptom of an injury. Various regenerative injection treatments are used to stimulate the repair of a damaged or injured area when the body’s natural healing process is not able to do the job on its own.

Available options include:

  • Prolotherapy
  • PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
  • Sarapin Injections
  • Zeel Injections
  • Stem Cell Injections

Percutaneous Disectomy

This minimally invasive procedure uses a small needle and a canula device to reduce a herniated disc, quickly relieving pain in most patients.

This process removes small portions of the disc nucleus. The empty space created allows the disc to reabsorb the herniation, the herniated part of the disc.

This procedure is a great alternative to open back surgery for herniated discs and allows to reduce the prolonged recovery and complications related to open surgery.

The procedure may be performed on an outpatient basis. X-ray images are used to guide the placement of the cannula.

Physical Therapy

Physical rehabilitation with active patient participation is a key approach to treatment of patients. Exercises learned during physical therapy can strengthen your spine and minimize your pain.

It is non-medical and non-surgical treatment in which range of motions and exercises are used to treat patients with back & neck pain, sciatica, and other related symptoms.

It is free from any risk of side-effects that are often linked with surgery such as bleeding and infection. In this treatment, our professionals also teach healthy habits to patients to prevent pain in future.

Prolotherapy

It is a regenerative treatment that is minimally invasive, in which we inject prolotherapy solution into the inflammation affected ligaments, tendons and joints to stimulate the repaid of damaged or injured area.

It is used to stimulate the repair of a damaged or injured area when the body’s natural healing process is inadequate. It is a great option for treatment because it can be an alternative to pain medications, surgery, and cortisone shots. It is a safe and affordable option for treatment.

Therapeutic Injections

There are several different types of injection therapies that are designed to treat specific types of disorders, injuries and pain in the body.

  • Botox Injections
  • Facet Joint Injections
  • Cortisone Injections
  • Epidural Steroid Injections

Trigger Point Injection

In this treatment, medicine is directly injected into the trigger points. These points are central area of muscle spasm in the upper back and shoulder areas. It is used to treat conditions including fibromyalgia, tension headache, and myofascial pain syndrome.

Sometimes an anesthetic or saline is also used to help “flush out” inflammatory agents that may be irritating a nerve.

We understand that – for both the worker with an injury and employer – returning to the workplace promptly is important. We provide comprehensive medical care to the injured worker, keeping the employer and the insurer apprised of the treatment plan, progress and status along the way.

Often, work injuries may not result in immediate pain. It is important to be seen by a doctor after any work injuries in case of internal injury or spine injury.

As in most cases, early intervention can lead to a normal recovery.
