Muscles move the skeleton in amazing ways. When a muscle contracts, it pulls on a tendon, which is in turn connected to your bone. Muscles are made to stretch. If a muscle is stretched too far or torn, it can result in painful muscle strain.

About Muscle Conditions

Sports participants are at risk for muscle strains. Unfortunately, strains occur in everyday activities such as slips and falls, jams, or repetitive activities.

Symptoms include pain, swelling, and bruising of the affected joint and vary with intensity of the injury. More serious strains may cause an inability to move the affected joint or joint instability.

Common muscle injuries include impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tears and ankle instability.
